Hong Kong's LEGO Exhibition 2011 at Cityplaza

Name of Model: LEGO Exhibition 2011
Created by various builders
Found at: ? (if you know of an official website or flyer for this event, please let us know)
Details: Here we have one of the most difficult things to round up photos of - a large, apparently nameless (if it has a website or flyer, I haven't been able to find it) display built by many builders that will be on display for a fairly long period of time. You can visit this display from April 15th through May 2nd at Hong Kong's Cityplaza. We'll be trying to round up as much meaningful coverage of the event as possible.

Bricks Adventure 2011

Name of Event: Bricks Adventure 2011
Found at: http://legendbricks.com/BricksAdventure2011/ba2011.html
Details: Starting in Hong Kong today (sorry! We're still a week behind so we were not able to announce this in advance - however, this is a multiple day event and there is still time to attend).

Please see the website mentioned above for information on the exhibitors and some photos of models that will be shown at the event (we'd highlight some of those here, but since the photos aren't tied to builders, it'd violate our policy of only highlighting a model when we can properly credit that model's creator). You can also look at the official flickr group from the event to see photos from last year's event (as well as some planning photos for this year, and I'd assume we'll see this year's photos turn up there soon too).

2010 Hong Kong LEGO competition - "Hong Kong - A city of charm"

Name of Competition: Hong Kong - A city of charm
Photos by: chiukeung
Found at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/20461528@N00/sets/72157624519059176/
Details: A contest is underway now in Hong Kong that has attracted some interesting entries. Most of them appear to be in the microscale town genre, but a few of them also feature excellent mosaics of Chinese characters. The photo links above are for the ninth entry in the contest. You can vote for your favorite of the 12 finalists (and see a little of each of the other entries) at http://www.easttouch.com.hk/events/lego/

Hong Kong Competition Finalists

In lieu of proper model coverage for today (and to help make up for the quiet weekend), here's a gallery of competition finalists from Hong Kong. They run the gamut of scales, themes, and techniques. While I would prefer to credit the individual builders, we're now reviving this blog's earlier practice of featuring larger galleries and group displays on Sundays. If you have more information about this competition or any of the specific models or builders involved, let us know by sending an e-mail to legomodeloftheday@gmail.com .

HKLUG's Winners of LEGO® Hong Kong's Scene Building Contest 2008

Name of Model: Scene Building Contest 2008
Created by: HKLUG
Found at: http://www.hklug.hk/blog/?p=32
Details: I was afraid I wouldn't find a good gallery to share for today, but Hong Kong's LEGO Users Group (of recent Olympics fame) came to the rescue with a list of galleries from their winners in Scene Building Contest 2008. The famous scenes rendered here include Murray House (a Victorian-era building in Stanley in Hong Kong), Disney's Magic Kingdom (a theme park in Walt Disney World), the Hong Kong Cultural Center (in Hong Kong), and Times Square (the one in Hong Kong :) ).

Side note: Am I forgetting a tag here? I thought I had one to reflect that some models are based on life-size buildings...
